Andrea Davis Pinkney                         

School library media specialists are invited to participate by working collaboratively with classroom teachers and students to produce a technology-based project focused on the life and/or works of Ms. Pinkney.
• Projects must be submitted in electronic format
• Projects must be submitted on or before Monday, March 23, 2009
• Winners will be announced on Monday, April 27, 2009.

The top three winning schools will be transported to Ms. Pinkney’s
live presentation on Friday, May 15th, 2009 at Syracuse University.
All schools are welcome to attend this event.

    Andrea Davis Pinkney is the vice president and editor-at-large for Scholastic Trade. She has held  editorial positions at Essence Magazine, Simon & Schuster and Disney Publishing’s Hyperion Books for Children. She also launched launched “The Cheetah Girls,” the “Shanna Show” book series and was founding editor of “Jump in the Sun,” the first African American children’s book imprint at a major publishing house. She Served as vice president, publisher and a strategic visionary at Houghton Mifflin where she oversaw the Curious George publishing program and the media tie-in program for the best-selling children’s classic “The Polar Express.”


    This year, Pinkney was named one of the “25 Most Influential Black Women in Business” by the Network Journal, a publication for Black Professionals. Pinkney was also the winner of the 2008 George Arents Pioneer Award for excellence in the field of publishing. (Click here to read full article)
