This funding supported the first E*LIT (Enriching Literacy through Information Technology), an effort that encourages the development of children’s reading, writing, and oral presentation skills through access to noted children’s authors, whose work reflects an urban or rural experience. Classes in grades K-8 from upstate New York schools will create innovative technology-based projects that center on the life or work of the specific authors involved in this project.
